Zele, 9 November 2022 – Corbeo acquires all production activities from Vlechterij Bossuyt from Kortrijk. As such, Corbeo is expanding its rope production with 32 braiding machines at once. This step is fully in line with the strategy to increase local added value through vertical integration. All activities will be integrated into the existing Corbeo site in Zele.
Vlechterij Bossuyt has been specialized for 2 generations in the production of braided rope, from 0.8mm to 12mm. With their modern German-made braiding machines, they deliver a very high-quality product. They are specialized in mason twine, rope for flagpoles, pullropes in large lengths (up to 1.000m in one piece) and also braiding of high-strength yarns such as Dyneema. Corbeo and Vlechterij Bossuyt have been working closely together for many years. When the current manager Evelyne Bossuyt announced that she wishes to cease the business activity and has no successor, this takeover was a logical step.
Corbeo is a manufacturer and wholesaler of ropes and related products. They are the market leader in Belgium for all rope available in retail, with their brand 'Ledent'. A strategy of 're-shoring', whereby local production is systematically expanded, is being implemented for several years now. “This takeover fits in perfectly in the multi-year plan to evolve from an importer to a full-fledged manufacturer,” says CEO Wilfried Baeten. Vlechterij Bossuyt was already an important supplier to Corbeo, and with this step we see opportunities to increase the sustainability, quality and continuity of our product range.
All machines will be moved to the new building that Corbeo took into use in Zele at the end of 2019. The capacity of the acquired braiding machines makes it possible to produce 10.000 km of braided rope annually. In addition to the retail articles, Corbeo will also continue to support Vlechterij Bossuyt's industrial customers and applications with their existing articles, but also with the broad Corbeo range.
