Polyester is a polymer that is heat treated in granule form in a spinneret, then extruded through a spin head and transformed into filaments (= melt spinning). No chemicals are used.

The fibers are then processed further into staple spun or braided rope.

  • Synthetic rope, not biodegradable
  • Strong and durable
  • Heavy rope
  • Remains flexible and supple

  • Starter cords (impregnated)
  • Spun string (staple spun polyester)
  • Nautical sports
  • Guy ropes for tents
  • Outdoor decoration due to high UV resistance

Technical details

  • (16 strand) braided, braided spun or braided and impregnated
  • High tensile strength, similar in strength to polypropylene
  • Highly resilient, slightly less so than polyamide
  • Little elasticity (± 10%)
  • Absorbs moisture and sinks (density 1.37 g/cm³), wet rope has the same tensile strength as dry rope. Does not rot, shrink or stiffen.
  • Best UV resistant synthetic rope
  • Highly heat resistant: melts from 250°C
  • Resistant to acids, but not bases
  • White rope with red marker thread (braided) or blue marker thread (staple spun, slightly lower in strength and often used on boats)
